Good afternoon Grade 1 families,

Here are some highlights of our week together;

-"Today we had a stem challenge. It was to make a Duplo guy float on a parachute. I got to take the parachute home". Elliott

-"This week for T.W.A.S. we wrote about the Life Cycle of a Butterfly. We are learning about butterflies and insects. We had to draw and label it". Cooper

-"Yesterday we did a directed drawing of a caterpillar. We had to do lots of lines, curves and bumps. Today we had to finish and colour it in, mine was green and orange". Reid

-"We had to make a parachute in stem challenge. We had to make it land on the bullseye. It worked for Cooper, me and my grade 4 buddy". Wyatt

-"We did a lifecycle for a directed drawing. Eggs first, then caterpillar then chrysalis and then turns into a butterfly and then it starts all over again". Paige

-"In journals we wrote about what we wondered about butterflies. I wonder why butterflies have long tongues and I also wonder why butterflies have fake eyes on their wings". Lily H

-"Today we got some caterpillars. We are allowed to name them and I am naming mine Tom. I chose Tom because I think it is a nice name". Georgia

-"In music, we learned a song it is called Kitty Alone. Kitty Alone is also a story. I like this song because it is about kitty". Hannah

-"In our journals we wrote about a non-fiction and fiction story. It had to have at least a butterfly, my first sentence was one day I was a butterfly and I went to the dump...". Andrew

-"In math we learned about 3D shapes. 3D shapes you can touch around all sides, 2D you can not touch them like a 3D shape. A triangle is a 2D shape and 3D shape would be a sphere". Lucas
