Good Afternoon Families!

We had such an amazing week!  Please take a look below for some of the highlights:

"We went on our nature walk and we learned about our five senses.  I felt the grass and I smelled a spruce tree." Hannah

"Today I went on the diving board and the first time I got scared and then the second time I did it.  If I did it again I would try a flip." Elliott

"In TWAS today we wrote about swimming and what we did.  We went down the slide twice and jumped off the diving board." Kyle

"We went on the waterslide today.  We played a game when our teacher said things you would bring in a boat and if they were good you jump in." Andrew

"In our TWAS we wrote about swimming and the bus ride.  My Dad volunteered today and did lots of fun stuff with us." Jake

"Yesterday we did a nature walk and we learned about hearing and smell and touch and sight.  I smelled dead grass and I heard wind.  I felt crunching leaves." Evan

"In music we played pumpkin pumpkin on the xylophones." Lucas

"In gym we talked about our stations.  One of the stations had a spinning thing where you wobble and try to balance." Ciara

"In music we played a game and we had to sit on the steps.  When the music stops we change our skeleton shape." Will


A BIG THANK YOU to all of our AMAZING volunteers who joined us on our swimming field trip!  We appreciate you so much and would not be able to have these opportunities without you!

On October 31st we invite students to dress up if they would like as long as their costumes do not interfere with their learning and the costumes are school appropriate (no weapons, masks, blood, gore, etc.)

Good afternoon Grade 1 families,

Here are some of our highlights together this week:

-"In gym we are doing scoops and balls. I like that you can toss it up and catch it with the scoop." Lucas 

-"Yesterday we played outside with scoops and balls for Gym and my partner was Reid." Evan

-"Today we watched Ms. Manser and Mr. Newman do the Chicken Dance, because we won the Terry Fox contest from the other school." Kate

-"We wrote in our journals about our favourite things that are orange. I wrote about a pumpkin, orange crayon and lava." Cale

-"Yesterday we had buddies with the Grade 4 class. We played a get to know you bingo." Abbey

-"We did buddies in Grade 4. We played a game and we had to use dice, and beads." Ciara

-"We played a new game in Music called Spider on my face, Spider on my leg." Aiden V.M.

-"This week we played a 10 frames game. We flipped it over and whoever had the bigger number won." Elliott

-"In Music we got to go on the Xylophones and I played a song." Alicia

-"In math we built numbers with blocks. It was called Messy Math." Acasia 

-"Today for our T.W.A.S. we wrote about Ms. Manser and Mr. Newman doing the Chicken Dance in the gym. It was silly." Jake


Important information:

-We still need volunteers next week for Swimming (8:00 am to 10:15 am). You need to have clearance in order to come with us. Please email your child's teacher if you are able to help us out.

-Please pack a separate bag for swimming. Please wear clothing that is easy to take on or off so we can get on the bus in time.

Hello Grade One Families!

Here are a few highlights from our fabulous week:

"In music we learned a new pumpkin song.  Pumpkin, pumpkin, round and fat...." Cooper

"We learned new ways to write in our fire writing journals.  Labeling our pictures is a way to write!" Evan

"We learned a song in music called Wiggle Like a Wiggle Worm.  It is one where you have to turn into a statue when the music stops."  Aidan

"We made Fall trees out of paper and sponges to make the background and the trees.  I used all of the colours in the rainbow."  Cale

"We made a beautiful oops.  This is where we draw a squiggle or a line and make it into something.  I turned mine into a stegosaurus!" Hannah

"In math we asked what colours people like.  I had pink, purple, blue, and yellow.  Five people chose blue."  Ciara

"We wrote about pictographs and we picked one thing.  I picked sports and we talked to ten people." Trent

"We played a word game where you have to write a word down three times and the teacher has to write it down six times.  You tap your board when you are done and we get a tallie point." Andrew, Reid, and Evan

"We got a ball and tried to throw it up in the air.  Then we had to run around the gym with the scoop and the ball trying not to let the ball fall out." Kate

"In gym we played with the scoops and balls too and we passed the balls to a partner.  We went back and forth.  It is fun to do that because you get to do it with a partner." Acasia

"We did a math problem, how many letters in my name. I have seven letters in my name." Will

"We made trees using paint and we used sponges and sharpie pens.  We used the texture of the sponge to make the background" Reid

"We wrote down the ways that you can be a writer.  Pictures, a list, and labels." Macca

Happy Thanksgiving long weekend Grade One Families,

Here are some highlights of our week together:

-"In music we learned a new song called Bluebird Bluebird. I like the song because you pretend to be bluebirds." Lucas

-"We drew what we smell and what we see in the Fall." Cale

-"We started Fire Writing this week. You can write and draw stuff in a special journal." Lily E.

-"We did a new song called Poison Rhythm with Mrs. Harris. I liked it." Ciara 

-"We made picture graphing. We had to ask 10 people what was their favourite thing, we had to draw pictures for it." Aidan. C

-"We did a word of the day. There is a word and we have to say the word of the day." Andrew

-"In journals, we wrote about what we are thankful for. I was thankful for my Dad because my dad got me a game." Trent

-We are thankful for thanksgiving. We have people over and we are thankful for the person who brought the food." Evan

-"Mr. Newman taught us a new game. It was a force game, we had to take some treasures like stars and circles. If you get the most treasures you win." Bentley T

-"We learned about a game in Gym called Zoo keeper. Whoever tags you, you run back and forth to the stage and the ladders." Kalen
