Happy Friday Grade One Families :)

Here are some of our highlights of our week together:

-"Today for T.W.A.S. we wrote about how to trap a leprechaun. I would use wood, stick and cardboard to cut it. I would get a trail of gold rocks to trap". Bentley T

-"In gym, we did gymnastics. We did Mission Impossible. We had to kind of be like spies". Ciara

-"This week was our last Sibbald U. In my Sibbald U we made fairy puppets, and the fairies also left us Pixie dust". Lucas

-"In T.W.A.S. we cut out paper and made leprechaun, we used sharpie to make the eyes. You also got to choose different colours for his hat. We traced our hand for his beard". Reid

-"This week we started Robotics. We learned how to make the Ozobots move. They move with lines, and if it is too thick or too thin it also wont work it has to be medium lines. We learned about how to code them. It is lots of FUN". Cooper

-"We made our houses on a sheet of paper and we put our house number on it. My house it looks like a factory where you make oil". Theo

-"In gym we worked on Mission Impossible. One of the things we did is we had to jump off the platforms but not hit the lasers. You also had to go on the balance beam, and go under blue mats and not touch them". Hannah

-"Today we had Music. We played a game when it was Halloween, but we made into a St. Patty's game. The leprechauns hid coins, and the kids got to make a trap". Presley

-"In math we did subtraction. Subtraction means you take away 10-3=7. I like subtraction because you take away numbers". Kate.

-Sprit day is next Thursday.

-Student led conferences Thursday and Friday. Reminders to families the student guide through stations so please bring your child during your signed up time.

-No school Friday

-Spring Break starts Monday March 25th

-Return to school April 1st

Good Afternoon Families!  We had a busy week in grade one.  Check out our highlights below:

"This week we went to gym and we had gymnastics.  We had equipment and my favorite station was the climbing station." Kate

"This week we drew leprechauns in our visual journals.  The leprechaun was in his pot of gold and we also put a rainbow in the background!" Evan

"We wrote why we love our Mom and our Dad.  I like you Mom because you like to knit.  She knit me a blanket and a toque." Aiden VM

"In Sibbald U we made washer/bead necklaces and we painted the washers and then we put string and then we put the beads on.  There were clear beads that couldn't fit on the string, but the star and some wooden ones did.  It was fun!" Reid

"In our visual journals we talked about what you want to do if you were a teacher for the day.  I wrote I would give my kids candy and I would do visual journals and lunch." Bentley T

"When we were having indoor recess I played a couple of games with Bentley and Aiden." Kalen

"In math we did take away.  I did 6-5 and it equals 1.  I also did 5-4 and it still equals 1!"  Easton

"Yesterday we went to the Grade 5/6's to look at their longhouses.  I didn't have a favourite one because they were all so cool.  I wrote about it in my TWAS today!" Jacob

"In Sibbald U we finished up our fairy terrariums. Mine was a birthday theme and my fairy came.  She left some gems."  Lucas

"In robotics yesterday Mr. Newman gave us a map and we had to find our house and make a path to the school. The day after that we switched maps and we tried the other groups map! McKenzie


Reminders:

Gymnastics Continues next week.  Please make sure your child is wearing comfortable clothing and their hair is tied back if it is long.
